I was raised on a small farm in a rural community in Douglas County, Kansas. As a young girl, we had a garden in the summers and raised cows and chickens for our own meat and eggs. I graduated from the University of Hawaii, where I was quite intrigued by their use of aquaponics and other interesting agricultural practices. I am currently employed on a farm outside of Lawrence, Kansas, where I work primarily in a large food garden. In my spare time I enjoy reading, writing, running and horseback riding. My goals in life include traveling around the world, combining a rural lifestyle with writing, and one day living on my own farm.
