With two heaping cups of chocolate chips, this definitely is the Best Ever Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe. This recipe is excerpted from Treasured Amish and Mennonite Recipes (Fox Chapel Publishing, 2011), a cookbook filled with down-to-earth dishes that have been bringing families and communities together at the table for generations.
• 1/2 cup lard
• 1/2 cup butter
• 1 cup brown sugar
• 1/2 cup white sugar
• 2 eggs
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 2 cups flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 2 cups chocolate chips
Cream shortenings and sugars. Beat in eggs, then vanilla. Add dry ingredients, which have been sifted together. Stir in chips. Drop by teaspoons onto greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350° for 10-11 minutes.
