Scalloped Potatoes Recipe

Tender potato slices in a tasty cheese sauce makes the perfect side dish for Easter dinner.

Scalloped Potatoes

Yields 8 to 10 servings.


  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup shredded American cheese
  • 5 cups sliced potatoes
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion


  1. Heat oven to 325 F.
  2. In a 12-inch cast-iron skillet, melt butter over low heat. Stir in flour, salt, pepper, and paprika. When edges start to bubble, slowly add milk. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens.
  3. Add cheese, and stir until melted. Stir in potatoes and onions.
  4. Cover skillet with foil, and bake for 70 minutes. Remove foil, and bake for another 20 minutes, or until potatoes are lightly browned.
