I openly admit that I’ve never liked cold weather. Give me a nice 50-80 degree day and I’m happy. Of course, being an amateur photographer, I won’t pass up the chance to go out and capture the season with my camera.
There’s something about ice and snow. The way the sun shines down on it, I see so many sparkling jewels radiating back at me. Who knew that Mother Nature could paint such a beautiful picture with white being the main color?
I can’t resist the scene of fresh snow on the ground and on the trees. A small splash of color will instantly pop out, like a red cardinal or the green of a fir tree. I love taking action shots of Jake, my Jack Russell Terrier, running and playing in the fresh snow. Now if I could just get him to stand still when I try to put his coat on him.
So far, I haven’t had a chance to photograph snowboarders or people skiing. No ski resorts here in northeast Missouri. It would still be interesting, as long as I’m not the one sliding down the slope. With that in mind, perhaps I should just stay a warm weather human.
Perhaps I’ll get lucky and get an early spring. The temperature will be more to my liking. The cherry blossoms and tulips will be in bloom. That is a little ways away, so I will patiently wait.
Until spring gets here, perhaps I will set my camera down and take Jake for another walk before all the snow melts today. I can bear the cold weather for a little while if I bundle up real good. To all of the snow bunnies out there, I hope you have a great winter. As for me, I think next winter I will make plans to hibernate.
