I have always loved the winter season – the crisp air, warm comfort foods, and beautiful holiday decorations. As a child, one of my favorite activities was to decorate the house. My brother and I would haul the totes containing our mother’s assortment of holiday ornaments and décor up from the basement. We loved looking through them every year, as she had quite a collection of family heirlooms, antique store finds, and other handmade pieces she had created. She enjoyed crafting and would make beautiful ornaments with materials she found around our farm and property – some she kept for us, and others she gave to friends and family.
I’ve collected a few of my favorite ways to decorate a home for wintertime. Almost all of the materials in the following projects can be found at craft stores, although I found a few of the items in my own backyard.
