Yields 8 ounces SERVINGS
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons fresh marigold petals
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1/8 teaspoon borax powder
- 1 tablespoon grated beeswax
- 1 tablespoon cocoa butter
- 1/2 cup almond oil
Directions
- Place the fresh marigold petals in a ceramic dish and gently crush them to release the essence of the plant. Pour the boiling water over the petals, and let sit until cool, about 20 minutes.
- Strain, and then stir the borax powder into the petal liquid, stirring constantly until the borax powder is completely dissolved.
- In a heat-resistant pan or bowl, mix together the beeswax, cocoa butter, and almond oil. Gently warm the mixture in a water bath, or in the microwave, until the beeswax and cocoa butter are melted. (The water bath is made by filling a pan with an inch of water, and placing a glass jar containing the beeswax and cocoa butter in the pan.)
- Gradually stir the borax and marigold flower infusion into the melted mixture, and continue heating and stirring until thoroughly blended. Or, if preferred, you can pour the entire mixture into a blender and blend on medium speed until combined.
