Apple Blondies Recipe

Adapted from Favorite Recipes of the King’s Daughters and Sons

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup apples, cored, peeled, and finely chopped
1 cup walnuts, finely chopped

Cream butter and sugar, add egg, then sift in flour, baking powder and soda, and spices. Mix in apples and walnuts and pour into buttered 8-inch-square baking pan. Bake at 350 F for 30–35 minutes. Cool and cut in squares to serve.
