Simple Cream Cheese Frosting goes great on cinnamon rolls, cakes, and cookies.

  • 1⁄4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract


  • In the bowl of a stand mixer (or in a large mixing bowl, using a hand mixer), mix together butter and cream cheese until smooth and creamy. Beat in powdered sugar. Add vanilla, and mix to combine.
  • Spread over cooled cakes, cupcakes, or cinnamon rolls.NOTE: If frosting is too thick, add a little milk or half-and-half. If it’s too thin, add a little more powdered sugar.
