Gingersnaps Recipe in a Jar

Give the gift of good taste with this spicy gingersnaps recipe in a jar.

Gingersnaps Recipe

For Quart Jar
Yields 4 dozen cookies

1 1/4 cups packed dark brown sugar
2 1/4 cups all-purpose unbleached flour
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 3/4 teaspoons ground ginger
1 1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon cloves

Spoon brown sugar into jar and press down into even layer.

Into a bowl, sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Using funnel or spoon, add mixture to jar, tapping lightly to form an even layer. Sprinkle ginger, cinnamon and cloves on top.

Seal with lid and decorate with ribbon. Attach recipe.

Recipe to attach:

Heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Pour Gingersnaps Mix into large bowl. Stir in 3⁄4 cup (1 1⁄2 sticks) melted unsalted butter and 1 large egg.

Roll dough into teaspoon-size balls. Roll balls in turbinado (raw) sugar and place on ungreased baking trays, 1 inch apart.

Bake for 14 minutes, or until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks.
