Simple Pleasures of the Home (Conari Press, 1999) by Susannah Seton is a collection of stories, recipes, crafts, and ideas for your home. This recipe will take you back to the era of sockhops and soda counters.

Contrary to popular belief, there were never eggs in egg creams. The name came from the fact that its taste is as rich as eggs. You really need the large fountain glasses to do this right.

  • 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup cold seltzer water

  1. Place the syrup in a glass. Add the milk and stir until blended.
  2. Add seltzer, stir, and serve.
